During one of John’s rare serious moments, he comments,
“Playing drums has been one of the great joys of my life… It has taken me places and opened my life up to experiences I never could have gotten to without the vehicle of playing a musical instrument... It open’s you up to friends and experiences only your talent and imagination can determine” |
|
John studied music at the University of Tampa, and played with a number of bands in Orange County, including Room 105, The Slimbeats, White Lies, and Tall Blonde, just to name a few . Grab him after a performance and ask him to name a few of the bands he opened for, toured with and jammed with. (Prepare to be impressed!)
John is a renaissance man, as successful in in the world of high finance as he is in music. Most of all, he has an irrepressible sense of humor... |

While the task of “playing drums” might sound like an easy one, think about the fact that the one instrument every member of the band closely listens to is the drummer’s.
The drummer cannot be distracted by a bar room fight, the entrance of a stunning beauty or the exit of a friend even for a split second. If the band sounds good, credit the drummer. And, John Gooley had been making bands like LazyBonz sound good for decades. |

Typical of John:
“I know what you are thinking… Since I play drums, I must have been battered as a child, right?
Actually, I was deep fat fried!” |
